Ontario, Canada – January 9, 2018 – New research from WinMagic released today has found that security, management and compliance challenges are impacting the benefits businesses are receiving from using the cloud as their infrastructures become more complex. 39% reported their infrastructure was more complex since using the cloud, and 53% spend more time on management tasks than they have done previously.

13 December 2017 – WatchGuard’s latest quarterly Internet Security Report, which explores the computer and network security threats affecting small to midsize businesses (SMBs) and distributed enterprises, has revealed massive increases in scripting attacks and overall malware attempts against midsize companies throughout Q3 2017.
London - Dec. 12, 2017 - Malicious mobile apps are back on the rise, impersonating brands and fooling consumers, according to digital threat management leader RiskIQ, in its Q3 mobile threat landscape report, which analyzed 120 mobile app stores and more than 2 billion daily scanned resources. In listing and analyzing the app stores hosting the most malicious mobile apps and the most prolific developers of malicious apps, the report documents an increase in blacklisted apps over Q2, as well as the continued issues of imitation and trojan apps in official app stores and the emergence of the massive WireX mobile botnet.

1. Security blossoms in the boardroom
Sadly, security breaches will continue to be a regular occurrence in 2018 and organizations will struggle to deal with them. New security challenges will abound and these will grab attention in the boardroom. Senior management is increasingly focusing on security issues and recognizing them as a core business risk, rather than the responsibility of the IT department alone. The coming year will see further commitment from the boardroom to ensure that organizations are protected.
2. Ransomware has not gone away
More than a third of IT professionals (35%) see themselves as the biggest internal security risk to networks within their organization, according to new research from Balabit, a leading provider of Privileged Access Management and Log Management solutions. IT professionals may understand what their most valuable assets are, but they are still struggling to safeguard IT assets against the unpredictability of human behaviour. Whilst HR and finance departments are the easiest target for social engineering, it is in fact IT staff who pose the biggest insider risk to networks, whether caused by accidental or intentional actions. This is largely due to IT staff often possessing higher access rights than other users.
Bristol, November 29: Research commissioned by Evolved Intelligence shows that an overwhelming 80 percent of mobile subscribers would lose trust in their mobile operator’s brand if it suffered an attack by hackers and fraudsters hijacking the network signalling system known as SS7. Indeed, some 25 percent of the customers said it was likely they would change their mobile operator as a result.
What’s more, when the research focussed solely on the customers who had suffered any form of attack, it found that 33% percent had changed or intended to switch provider.
