There is a new version of OpenCMS available, OpenCms 9. OpenCms is an enterprise ready web content management solution built in Java and XML from open source components. OpenCms can has historically been easily deployed on almost any existing IT infrastructure and suited for medium and large enterprise internet or intranet applications. This new version was developed by Alkacon Software GmbH with the support of the international OpenCms developer community.

OpenCms 9 brings several enhancements while being fully backward compatible with OpenCms 8.x. Significant new features and improvements in OpenCms 9 include:

Nuxeo, the provider of a content management platform for business applications, today announced the availability of Nuxeo Platform 5.8, a major Long Term Support version of the open source content management platform. With advances in workflow, content synchronization, and REST APIs, this version is a major step forward for developers and product managers who build content-centric applications to manage business information.

So why is content management so important to the enterprise? The most vital asset that a company has is its data. As such, users must have immediate access to relevant data in order to maintain a successful business that can remain competitive within a given industry. Many companies have a tough time managing all of their data. They don't have a good system for organizing it and delivering it to users in a timely manner.

Businesses have seen the value of data for years. Thus, businesses have collected survey, transaction and marketing data all with the hope that by analysing it they can improve their business processes and become more profitable. The problem is that some companies end up paying more than the data is actually worth, due to poor business practices or relying on a data warehouse that simply can't keep up with today’s influx of data. For business leaders who find the following five signs familiar, it may be time to switch to big data as a service, such as Qubole, to get the most out of the data they collect and the money they spend.

Integrating third party applications into Documentum has become easy with the CARA Hub.  Integrate information or UI components of external systems (including data updates) using a mixture of ExtGWT components, RESTful Web Services or simply JSP - enabling users to use CARA as the single UI to access multiple applications which form part of a business process.  Also leverage full CARA customization through the same mechanisms.

It doesn't matter how much data you can store or process if your analysis isn't yielding valuable business insights. Yet it seems many businesses tend to put all of their time and resources into storing and maintaining their data rather than improving their analysis process. These are seven warning signs that you may have fallen into the data collection trap and are not gaining the insights that you need and want.

I had the privileged of reviewing Liferay Portal for CMS-Connected's "In the Spotlight" segment. This is the first time, I've done a show with new co-host Butch Stearns.
