UK Emergency Services at risk of major cyber-attack, overall infrastructure resilient

London, UK. [27 February 2018] The UK’s emergency services are at risk of a major cyber-attack. This is the finding of a new landscape analysis, issued this morning by leading threat intelligence provider, Anomali.

The UK Threat Landscape report, which explores the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure against threats and possible vulnerabilities, points to a number of weak spots in the UK which could attract an attack. One of the most notable, in addition to the emergency services, is the Defence Equipment and Supply Organisation which presents a prime target for actors seeking to disrupt defence procurement.

Work-life balance of UK IT professionals lags behind US workers but equals Australians

PagerDuty, the global leader in Digital Operations Management, today announced a new study that reveals the work-life balance of UK IT professionals is lagging behind that of their US counterparts but matches Australia data, according to a new report from the company.

The survey of over 800 IT professionals across the UK, the US and Australia, found that twice as many US respondents (36%) said their work-life balance was excellent versus just 15% of IT professionals in the UK and 16% Australia.

The findings contradict the general perception by many in the UK that Australians enjoy a better work-life balance than workers in Britain, and that American employees suffer even more because of fewer days off.

A Record Number of UK Consumers Switched Energy Supplier Last Year

​​5.5 million Energy consumers switched to electricity last year. This marked a new record and suggested that people are becoming savvier about these deals. Energy UK, the leading trade association in the country, said that they had over 400,000 switches in December alone, increasing the total annual switching value by 15%.

Lotus Notes and the GDPR conundrum

Many organizations have yet to start the process of migrating their data and applications away from the Lotus Notes platform, and while there are many reasons as to why this is so, probably the two key ones are a truly compelling event that forces the issue and a lack of expertise. 70% of European IT decision-makers see Brexit as a business opportunity

London, UK, 6th November 2017 - Interoute, the global cloud and network provider, has revealed new survey results showing almost two-thirds (63 per cent) of businesses across Europe are anticipating high growth in the year ahead. Reassuringly despite its turbulent outlook, the UK was only slightly behind the European average at 61 per cent. As the political climate presents opportunities for those countries and companies that can move at pace, on average 70 per cent believed Britain leaving the EU was an opportunity for their company.

Promotions Just as Important to Customers as Product Quality

13 October 2017, London: When it comes to buying home and kitchen appliances, British consumers admit that the right reward is just as important to them as quality of product. The independent study of 2,000 British adults, commissioned by 360insights, found that 17 percent of consumers said their purchase decision was driven by a promotion, the same amount that identified product quality as the reason for their purchase.

Brits Demand New Legislation on Artificial Intelligence

A new study from MACHINA Summit.AI published today shows that the overwhelming majority of Brits (75%) believe that the UK needs new regulations to control artificial intelligence. These findings come in the wake of Tesla boss Elon Musk’s recent dire warnings that ‘AI is our biggest risk existential threat.’

The survey reveals that 44% believe the UK Government should lead new AI regulations. 28% prefer an independent global body to take control, with just 11% wanting the technology industry to head it up. Post-Brexit, the EU gained a paltry 8% support.
