3 in 5 Organizations Experienced Accidental Data Loss Over Email in the Past Year

SAN FRANCISCO - May 18, 2022 - New research from email security company Tessian and the Ponemon Institute reveals that nearly 60% of organizations experienced data loss or exfiltration caused by an employee mistake on email in the last 12 months. Email was revealed as the riskiest channel for data loss in organizations, as stated by 65% of IT security practitioners. This was closely followed by cloud file-sharing services (62%) and instant messaging platforms (57%).

IT Leaders Say Employees Not Fully Prepared for Cyberattacks

London, UK – 6th April 2022 – Egress, the leading provider of intelligent email security, today announced the results of its Human Activated Risk report, which revealed that over half (56%) of IT leaders say that their non-technical staff are only ‘somewhat’ prepared, or ‘not at all’ prepared, for a security attack. Only a third of CIOs cite cyber-risk mitigation as a performance measure

Bot myths and fallacies leave two-thirds of businesses at higher risk of malicious attacks

Endpoint Malware and Ransomware Volume Exceeded 2020 Totals by End of Q3 2021

19 January 2022 – Endpoint malware and ransomware detections surpassed the total volume seen in 2020 by the end of Q3 2021, according to researchers at the WatchGuard Threat Lab. In its latest Internet Security Report, WatchGuard also highlights that a significant percentage of malware continues to arrive over encrypted connections. While zero-day malware increased by just 3% to 67.2% in Q3 2021, the percentage of malware that arrived via Transport Layer Security (TLS) jumped from 31.6% to 47%. WatchGuard’s data shows that many organizations are not decrypting these connections and therefore have poor visibility into the amount of malware hitting their networks.
