Mike Gifford, Open Concept, commented here at CMS Report that his company had just posted a report they did for a client comparing three open source content management systems. His company needed to recommend to their client whether Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal would be a good replacement for their current CMS, Back-End (BE).
Simple PHP Blog 0.5.0.1, a maintenance release, went public on Tuesday of this week. I know I don't talk too much about it here, but I still like to keep at least one eye open on this particular blogging application. For you see, I consider Simple PHP Blog my very first Web content management system (WCMS).

Now that Summer 2007 is finally here, it is time to step back for a couple weeks and spend less time in front of the computer. As I mentioned earlier, I'm going to use some of this time to publish online a professional report I did on IT user support. This report was submitted a couple years ago as a requirement for a Master of Science in Administrative Studies with an Information Systems track. You'll get bits and pieces of it in the following weeks and once I'm done, I'll regroup them similar to the research paper I posted earlier this year.

I must confess, I really don't fully understand how the Internet ranking systems actually work. Ranking systems such as Google's PageRank and Alexa's Traffic Rankings seem to use a mystery of statistical analysis, algorithms, and a sprinkle of voodoo calculus to come up with the numbers they do. Although most people lack the understanding to how these numbers are derived it is still fun to watch those rankings change from day to day. For example, since the Fall of 2006 I've seen the rankings for CMSReport.com change from 830,790 to around a steady 90,000.

In an illuminating interview published in the June 4 issue of The New Yorker, White House political aide Karl Rove suggested that a nexus exists between the spread of technology and a centrist-conservative outlook on the world."There are two or three societal trends that are driving us in an increasingly deep center-right posture," Rove told the magazine.
