Alkacon Software has moved its software repository from CVS to Github. Github is based on the popular distributed revision control system (DRCS) Git. The web-based hosting service Github is very popular amongst Open Source Developers.

Alkacon Software has chosen Git as revision control to keep its software development process based on the best available technology (since CVS is technically out-dated) and to achieve a better collaboration with the OpenCms community.

The source code of OpenCms is now available from Github at https://github.com/alkacon/opencms-core.

Boston – June 16, 2011. Nuxeo, the Open Source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform company, today announced the availability of a new version of its Case Management Framework. Nuxeo CMF is an enhanced distribution of Nuxeo Enterprise Platform (EP), adding functionality to support the flow and use of diverse but related content that needs to be handled and managed in a case or container metaphor.

The next major release of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware is now available -- Tiki 7. In addition to more than 200 miscellaneous fixes and code improvements, Tiki 7 boasts several eagerly awaited new features:

• Drag-and-drop of modules
• Dozens of new plugins including Blip.tv, Vimeo, TokenAccess
• Introduction of the Theme Generator
• A new unified search infrastructure, based on Zend Lucene
• Integration with OpenStreetMap and Zotero
• Revamped Slideshow
• Mobile, using jQuery.mobile

With this release, Tiki has made some important technological changes, too. Tiki 7 marks the beginning of movement towards HTML5 and the end of support for Internet Explorer 6. Integration with jQuery Mobile is also featured in this release, replacing HAWHAW (first introduced in 2004) for mobile support.

The code for Tiki Trackers have been completely revamped in this release. This will allow developers to more easily improve the feature and better integrate it within all aspects of Tiki.

The release of Tiki 7 also means that Tiki 6 become the LTS (Long Term Support) version and that development on Tiki 3.x officially ends. Although Tiki 7 is available immediately for early adopters, many site administrators may elect to wait until 7.1. Boston – June 1, 2011. Nuxeo, the Open Source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform company, released a new version of Nuxeo Document Management and Nuxeo Enterprise Platform today. Nuxeo DM 5.4.2 offers a host of usability and social features to make the user experience even smoother and more streamlined. Key contributions highlight the value of community involvement in the strategy of continuous innovation for the Nuxeo platform.

The release of Nuxeo DM 5.4.2 and its underlying platform, Nuxeo EP, demonstrates execution on a vision of ongoing innovation, community engagement, and open standards support, delivered to content management application architects and developers. Driven by community feedback, many of the new features and enhancements improve usability of the application, using state-of-the-art technologies and standards, such as OpenSocial, OAuth, HTML5, WebDAV, and CMIS.

The new WSS connector was contributed by Nuxeo partner Gagnavarslan, an ECM solution provider in Iceland. The Nuxeo and Gagnavarslan teams collaborated to integrate this new component after passing the Nuxeo QA process. With this connector, the Nuxeo repository can be mapped as a drive under MS Windows or Mac OS X. "We are building a range of ECM services based on Nuxeo, and our clients need a smooth desktop integration into an existing Microsoft Windows infrastructure," said Jónas Sigurðsson, Development Manager at Gagnavarslan in Iceland. “Our group of developers in Kiev reverse engineered the existing WSS protocol to support Windows 7, Windows XP and the latest MS Office versions directly in Nuxeo EP. We support the open source paradigm and are happy to contribute our work back to the Nuxeo community."

OpenCms 8 is now ready and available for download! OpenCms is one of the most popular Open Source Content Management Solutions. This new version was developed by Alkacon Software GmbH with the support of the international OpenCms developer community.

One of the coolest things about CMS Expo 2011 was the opportunity to see five open source CMS "founders" together in one room. On the conference stage were Dries Buytaert (Drupal), Andrew Eddie (Joomla), Sigurd Magnusson (SilverStripe), Shaun Walker (DotNetNuke), and Per Ploug-Hansen (Umbraco).

Version 7.5.4 of OpenCms is now ready and available for download.

Mark Jaquith, a lead developer for Wordpress, recently posted on a WordPress developer's blog the plans for WordPress 3.2.  Below are some of the changes and features Jaquith says will be on this new version of WordPress that caught my eye. My personal comments gave been added to the side.

This week, the Wordpress core developers released WordPress Version 3.1.This release took a little longer than CMS Report had first anticipated, but we see it as a sign that today's WordPress is much more complex than it used to be when it was considered only a tool for blogging. In fact, Matt Mullenweg in his Wordpress 3.1. announcement  seemed to recognize this continued evolution of WordPress as a content management system.
